What If Cannabis Cured Cancer?

Postby Eugene Shubert » Fri Nov 11, 2011 7:58 am

There seems to be a respectable number of scientists and physicians that believe that cancer can be cured by simply eating industrial hemp or CBD (Cannabidiol) rich marijuana. Here are the most authoritative videos and links on the cancer fighting properties of medical marijuana that I've encountered to date.

Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants - United States Patent # 6,630,507

Antitumor activity of plant cannabinoids with emphasis on the effect of cannabidiol on human breast carcinoma

Antitumor effects of cannabidiol, a nonpsychoactive cannabinoid, on human glioma cell lines

Ongoing clinical trials with cannabidiol

Clinical studies with cannabis or single cannabinoids in different diseases and case reports on the use of cannabis by patients

Cannabinoids: potential anticancer agents

Cannabinoids induce apoptosis of pancreatic tumor cells via endoplasmic reticulum stress-related genes

Marijuana takes on colon cancer

Cannabinoids including THC, induce apoptosis in leukemic cells

"A significant number of anecdotal observations have accumulated that suggest people suffering from a variety of cancers appear to have been cured by ingesting what is known as Rick Simpson's hemp oil." - Dr. Melamede, President & CEO, Cannabis Science / University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

RUN FROM THE CURE - The Rick Simpson Story (All 7 segments in 58 minutes)

PROSTATE CANCER CURED WITH HASH OIL

The American College of Physicians (ACP) "encourages the use of non-smoked forms of THC (the main psychoactive element in marijuana)"

Cannabis Science™ is one company that is making money from Rick Simpson's discovery. More are sure to follow. They say Sativex® is the only multi-cannabinoid medicine currently approved for marketing (only in Canada).

Intravenous Vitamin C as a Cancer Cure?

Postby Eugene Shubert » Tue Nov 22, 2011 7:51 pm

The claim that cancer patients that took vitamin C had a mean survival time of 300 days longer than that of controls is not comparable to claims of complete cancer remission due to cannabinoids. http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRel ... cer/c.html

Clearly, the original claims by Dr. Linus Pauling regarding vitamin C are far from what can be called an alternative cancer cure. So why are so many medical practitioners touting the benefits of intravenous vitamin C as a promising cancer treatment? Are they merely trying a random yet plausible supplementary approach or are they exploiting a profitable fashion trend? Where is the compelling anecdotal or scientific evidence that demonstrates the benefits of intravenous vitamin C?

Perhaps there are good reasons for skeptics to believe that intravenous vitamin C has no therapeutic effect for any known disease but what study disputes the effectiveness of cannabis, cannabinoids, or marijuana on cancer?

Indisputably therefore, merely slowing down the rapid proliferation of cancer cells by 50% and relying on a single therapy will be disastrously insufficient for most persons.

Forks Over Knives is an inspiring, must see documentary on the healing properties of a simple plant-based diet:

Cannabis Science Reports: National Cancer Institute Updates Confirm Successful Cancer Treatments With Medical Cannabis

The link points to an interesting article. Here’s a brief excerpt:

Cannabis Science, Inc. (OTCBB:CBIS), a pioneering US biotech company developing pharmaceutical cannabis products, is pleased to report a government released update on cancer treatments using medical cannabis (marijuana), updated March 17, 2011, summarizing how the treatment of cancer with cannabinoids goes beyond the simple treatment of symptoms and side effects by exhibiting possible direct antitumor activities.

Robert Melamede, Ph.D., Cannabis Science's CEO stated, "… cannabinoids have profound cancer-killing and anti-metastatic properties. There is strong scientific support, demonstrated in tissue culture and animal studies, of the potent cancer killing properties of cannabinoids for such deadly cancers as glioma, lung cancer, breast and prostate cancer, leukemias and lymphomas, and as well as skin cancers.

Currently the federal government prohibitionist position on cannabis is hindering the medical community by delaying vitally important clinical cannabis research. I was quite elated when I recently saw that the NCI posted on their webpage "In the practice of integrative oncology, the health care provider may recommend medicinal Cannabis not only for symptom management but also for its possible direct antitumor effect." I foolishly thought that finally there would be official recognition of the modern peer reviewed science that shows the cancer killing properties of cannabinoids. Sadly, this statement was removed, without comment, within hours of its posting."

Dr. Melamede goes on to say "Clinical trials are desperately needed. Cannabis Science is actively working on arrangements that will allow us to perform the necessary clinical trials to verify, or not, the numerous anecdotal reports demonstrating what appears to be cancer cures. These observations are occurring with greater frequency since numerous states have legalized the medical use of cannabis.
