Hi Admin
Just noticed that, under my username on this forum, it has the label Seventh-day Adventist. Just wondering how a person's denominational affiliation is determined. I don't remember telling anyone whether I am a member of the SDA denomination or not -- is this some magic I don't know about?!

G’day spozzie,
I’ve read your posts. I guessed that you’re a Seventh-day Adventist based on your intimate familiarity, interest and defense of Seventh-day Adventist books on prophecy. I think it helps the many readers of our forum threads if posters identify their denominational affiliation. It helps explain where people are coming from. If I guessed wrong, could you specify the perspective that best identifies you?

Hi Eugene. I appreciate your intentions but do wonder whether, in the interests of people's privacy, this should be one of the things permission is asked for to 'advertise'. I am currently reading a book by someone who is not an SDA who shows and intimate familiarity with Adventist teaching on prophecy -- so the assumed link between that characteristic and Adventist affiliation may be questionable. At the least, it would be good if a person had the opportunity to nominate their affiliation themselves rather than having it guessed! Could it not be part of the profile settings somehow?
For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels. Luke 9:26.
It's advisable that if you're ashamed of your beliefs, then you shouldn't use your real name or the same pseudonym that you may use elsewhere on other forums.

If you want privacy, then don't post any facts that may identify you.
If I damaged your reputation by labeling you a Seventh-day Adventist, I apologize. You understand, of course, that for all practical purposes, to most persons generally, anyone who defends the traditional Seventh-day Adventist view of prophecy is SDA.

Hi Eugene. I am not ashamed of my beliefs nor am I ashamed of Christ and his words. Nor am I ashamed of my affiliation with the SDA denomination assumptions are not made about the details of my beliefs on the basis of that association.
My comments were merely intended to raise an issue regarding privacy -- something I believe should be respected at all times.

I'm not sure what facts you are referring to. The only post I have made on this forum was to promote Jon Paulien's book on Revelation and these to you as administrator. I'm also intrigued by how you describe me. Your comments implied that you had read much more than that. I'm just wondering whether I'm the same person you are thinking of... just a thought.

I don't believe I have ever defended the traditional SDA view of prophecy online. Are you sure you are not thinking of someone else?

Being identified as a Christian who is a member of the SDA denomination is most comfortable to me. I agree with much SDA theology but not all.
