The suffering Jesus, His love so deep as to lead Him to give His life for man, was again held up before me; also the lives of those who professed to be His followers, who had this world's goods, but considered it so great a thing to help the cause of salvation. The angel said, "Can such enter heaven?" Another angel answered, "No, never, never, never. Those who are not interested in the cause of God on earth can never sing the song of redeeming love above." I saw that the quick work that God was doing on the earth would soon be cut short in righteousness and that the messengers must speed swiftly on their way to search out the scattered flock. An angel said, "Are all messengers?" Another answered, "No, no; God's messengers have a message." EW, p. 50.
I believe that God still has a cause on earth and that most Seventh-day Adventists who claim to have a message from God are not God's messengers. However, in contrast to the superficial, confused and even erroneous messages that many Adventists are promoting with great enthusiasm, I believe that God gave Steve Starman a highly relevant and alarming message.
Here is the message that Steve Starman reported. It's from a dream that he had while tent camping with his family in Wawona, California, in Yosemite National Park (June 8, 2004):
I believe that there is a conspiracy of silence, which goes back to the days of Neal Wilson, President of the General Conference. Pastor Larry Christoffel told me that Edward Heppenstall informed Neal Wilson about the dangerous heresies of Graham Maxwell and Wilson responded by saying that nothing should be done about it. Christoffel, who was a friend at the time, also told me to keep this a secret. As it began, I was driving on a beautiful, winding country road. There were magnificent green trees all along the way, and shafts of sunlight were permeating the greenery at intervals. It was exceedingly peaceful. I came to a street or long driveway intersecting upon my right, and pulled the car off the road to take a look. The road led quite a way to a rather large building that had an ominous feel to it. The building itself was not unusual—just a single-story, normal-looking office style. I often pulled over and looked at this building on my way home, just as I was then. There was just something about it that wasn’t quite right; at this time I can’t remember what set it apart from others. It seemed that there was an inordinate amount of security and secrecy there. I could never tell from my stops whether it was a government building or a research facility, but it certainly had that feel. My curiosity was natural; in the dream I was a newspaper reporter, perhaps an investigative journalist of some type. I pulled away, and continued to my home.
(I arrived home, to a house that I don’t recognize now or then, but I remember many details of it.)
After I arrived home, I received an unexpected phone call from a ‘whistle-blower’ from the institution that I had paused to look at. The person told me that he would come to my house later that evening with “undeniable proof” of a concealed, dangerous corporate or governmental cover-up: my suspicions were confirmed. He appeared at the house with a protective body suit, not unlike a suit for radiation or biohazard workers, and left it with me. The understanding that I had from the stranger’s visit was that if experts examined the suit, all mysteries regarding the strange activities at the plant would be blown wide open.
Also, Bill Shea admits there being a policy of silence in the hierarchy regarding Maxwell's theology.

Recently, it appears that the hierarchy has decided that instead of being absolutely quiet about the "counterfeit character of God message" within the church, that they should speak out against it because the movement that is promoting this dangerous heresy is growing at an alarming rate. The new book, The Character of God Controversy by Steve Wohlberg and Dr. Chris Lewis, is the denomination's most recent response to this controversy. http://www.pacificpress.com/pp/news/con ... oversy.htm
That book doesn't say that the basis of "counterfeit character of God message" is spiritualism but Steve Wohlberg admitted that it was in a presentation he gave at the Generation of Youth for Christ (GYC) conference in San Jose in December of 2008. You can hear his presentation online at http://www.audioverse.org/displayrecord ... rsyPartII/
There are also other Adventists who are saying that the "counterfeit character of God message" is spiritualism. See: A Modern Subtle Challenge To God's Authority - A Book Review.
However, the Church has not yet officially admitted that the crisis before us is that new form of spiritualism that Sister White said would come into the Church in the last days.
