He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those who hated me, For they were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the LORD was my support. He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me. Psalm 18:16-19
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Psalm 27:13
Henry Slaughter wrote the words and music to a song titled “If the Lord Wasn't Walking by My Side” where he stated:
I don't know just what I’d do If the Lord wasn't walking by my side
When I was drifting (when I was drifting on the sea of a despair)
and I was wandering (I was wandering if Jehovah's up there)
When Jesus found me,(Jesus found me in my sinful life)
he heard me praying (he heard me praying on my knees at night)
Now I’m singing (Now I'm singing this happy song)
And I don't know (I don't know) just what I’d do
If the Lord wasn't walking by my side
What would I do, (What would I do when a tear fills my eyes)
what would I do (What would I do when it's my time to die)
Well I’d be lonely, discouraged
Burdened on the way
If the Lord wasn't walking by my side every day
Yes, the truth of the matter is but for the grace of God many of us wouldn’t be alive today to testify about the goodness of God and all that He did for us. How He saved us! How He healed us! How He delivered us! How He defended us! How He blessed us! How He was our support in the day of trouble and He delivered us because He delighted in us. How He also brought me out into a broad place. How He granted us according to our heart’s desire. How He did for us great and wonderful and impossible things! And now our prayer for others is;
May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you; May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion; May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah May He grant you according to your heart's desire, And fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions. Psalm 20:1-5
Now the good news of the gospel is that God is no respecter of persons and shows partiality to no one, not even men or women. He is pouring out His spirit on all flesh including on His menservants and maidservants and whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. God’s word is unchanging:
'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved.' Acts 1:17-21
"And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; "they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." Mark 16:17-18
Yes, God has His menservants and maidservants who believe and in His name cast out demons, speak with new tongues, deal with serpents, are protected by God and lay hands on the sick and they recover. While the world has false christs and false prophets who also show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect (Mark 13:22). Yes, everyone, including male or female, who repents and is baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Yes Lord adds to the church daily those who were being saved including all the members of a household for God’s word is unchanging:
Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. "For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation." Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:38-47
And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Acts 16:30-31
Because of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all flesh, including menservants and maidservants, God's true ones are no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but are free to speak the truth whatever that may be! We are now free not only to judge and discern all things but have under the constitution the freedom of speech and of the press which no false one can take away. God’s word is unchanging:
Now his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying: "Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people, And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David, As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began, That we should be saved from our enemies And from the hand of all who hate us, To perform the mercy promised to our fathers And to remember His holy covenant, The oath which He swore to our father Abraham: To grant us that we, Being delivered from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.
